Alpacka raft Expedition and Gnarwhal are single-person models equipped with spray skirts and splash decks. These models are particulary suitable for rapids, as the splash deck protects against water splashes and even large waves. For two-person needs, there is the Alpacka raft Oryx. Using and packing manual:

  1. Retrieve the packraft and the electric pump from the bag

  2. Open the packing strap and spread the raft on a flat area

  3. Open the the two part valve in its entirety

  4. Attach the pump in the valve and start the pump

  5. When the packraft is almost full of air, quickly detach the pump and close the valve

  6. Retrieve the manual pump from the bag, open the top valve and fill the packraft with air. Close the valves and check that both the top and the bottom valve are closed. Pay attention to pressure rising with temperature.

  7. Fill the seat, backrest and the front of the spray deck with the electric pump, then close the valves.

  8. Attach the fin at the bottom of the canoe. Push the fin under its fixed place, at first pushing it all the way to the front, and then pull the fin entirely back, so it wont fall off. Detach the fin in shallow waters and rapids.

  9. Assemble the four-part paddle.

  10. Put on your life jacket and start padddling.

  1. Lift the packraft on a flat surface

  2. Clean most of the dirt and wipe the insides of the raft.

  3. Remove the fin

  4. Open all the valves located in the bottom of the raft, in the seat, backrest and spray deck.

  5. Remove the air from the packraft using the electric pump.

  6. Start packing the raft from the stern, fold the sides in the middle and start to fold the rest of the raft towards the valve.

  7. Once the packraft is empty and and neatly folded, attach the packing strap over the raft.

  8. Disassemble the paddle.

  9. Put everything back in the bag.

NOTE! When using the packraft, you must consider the effect of temperature changes on the raft’s pressure. If you inflate the packraft to maximum pressure on a cool evening and it’s warmer next day, the raft may suffer damage as the pressure increases. If you leave the raft in the sun to dry, release some pressure from it.

Cold water decreases the pressure slightly, take this into account when filling the raft.
