Forces, a mint condition ahkio meant to pull a team’s supplies, made with glass
fiber by Exel. The ahkio is pulled by a rope, which in turn are attached to a
pull harness. Camping supplies are fitted in the ahkio with a cover tightened
by a rubber rope. Length 205 cm, width 50cm. Ahkio is exceptionally large and
can fit bigger number of supplies or tools. Depending on the snow type, in a
powdery snow the ahkio can fit 40 kg of supplies and with more firm snow, 60kg.
In an emergency, the ahkio can also be used to move an injured camper.
Handmade JR27-ahkios

to be even better. The ahkio is fitted with detachable glass fiber drawbars
JR27 is named after Jalkaväkirykmentti 27- meaning 27. Infrantry Regiment. The Regiment was assembled during the finnish Winter War from the Kajaani, Oulu and Kemi regions. The Regiment was active in the war around Suomussalmi area, and was in a major role in the Battle of Raatteentie. It has been said that the 27. used exactly the ahkios such as these, but at the time there were no plastic in the ahkios and they were made entirely out of wood. Our self-made ahkios are made out of plywood and polyethylene strips. Drawbars are Exels glass fiber tubes and the ahkio is equipped with a Fjellräven ahkio belt. Ahkios are spacious, so you can fit a lot of supplies with you. JR-ahkio recommended maximum load is on a powdery snow 25kg and in firmer snow 40kg. The length of the ahkio is 160 cm and width 35/45cm. Weight of the ahkio itself is 8kg.

Fjellpulken Expedition Xplorer, reinforced polar level ahkio
Fjellpulken Expedition Xplorer is a light reinforced ahkio, which fits everything you need. The ahkio glides easily in both deep snow and ski trail. As its name suggests, the ahkio is designed to do well in polar conditions. The ahkio is a more durable version of the X-country, the
drawbars are reinforced and and the pull harness is stronger.
Ahkios nylon cover is waterproof. Fjellpulkens Xplorer frame material is glass fiber reinforced polyethylene. The nylon cover is conveniently tightened with special tightening ropes.
The Xplorer-series is reinforced with aluminium string around the lids attachments.
The ahkio is also fitted with three load
brackets instead of the usual two found in the X-country, attatched both inside
and outside.

seating is removed. If removed, the ahkio fits about 1-2 persons supplies. Let

Fjellpulken children’s ahkio has a lot of
features which guarantee you child’s safety even in a bumpier ground.
Glass fiber reinforced polyester ahkio is
light and easy to pull. Ahkio is included with polycarbonate made windshield
for extra safety. The windshield’s aluminum reinforcements guarantee the child’s
safety as the UV-protected shield bends for the child’s protection in case of a
possible fall. Additionally, the ahkios sides are fitted with safety arches
preventing such falls. If for some reason the ahkio does end up falling, the
windshield is designed to keep the child safe. Should a fall occur, the windshield
bends so that the child is safe within the ahkio.
The protective fabric is water-and
windproof, but still let’s air in accordingly. The protective fabric is integrated
with a storm cover, which can be used if necessary. If the weather turns bad,
the protective fabric is possible to activate so that the winds can’t get to
the child and they can stay protected and warm and enjoy the ride. Inside the
ahkio is a waterproof and warmth retaining mat with a slide-proof finish.
Adjustable seat is made of soft and warm foam. The back of the seat gives an
excellent support for the child’s back and neck. Naturally the ahkio is also
fitted with a seatbelt. In case the child falls asleep in the ahkio, the back of
the seat is possible to be adjusted to a lying down position.
There is a small stowage in the back of the
ahkio, and a bigger one in the front of the ahkio. The stowage is easily
accessible through two-way zippers.

Safe travel with a child in the ahkio:
According to the recommendations of Norway’s Red Cross:
- No children under the age of six months. Once the temperature gets below -10°C,it is not recommended to travel with a child of any age. It’s important to remember that windy conditions add up to the felt cold, and that in the ground level the air is at its coldest.
- The child must be perfectly healthy when transported in the ahkio. The child might get sick if transported immediately after eating. The comfort of the child should be checked when pulling the ahkio regularly.
- Check the condition of the ahkio before use.
- Check that the safety belt is properly adjusted.
- Use a baby bag or an equivalent warm cover to keep the child warm. Remove the child from the ahkio regularly.
- Even though the windshield protects the child from the UV-rays of the sun, the child should be fitted with
proper UV-protected sunglasses. - Always check the weather report and don’t embark on a too long journey.
- Don’t ski so fast as to risk the control of the ahkio.
